Joseph F. Schweitzer, age 86, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Baptist Health Louisville Hospice.
Born in Augusta, KY to the late Thomas Eugene and Ezra Nell Schweitzer, Joe was a US Army veteran and served in the Army Reserves for 32 years. He worked for 36 years in production at General Electric, was a KY Colonel, and in retirement, delivered auto parts for Bob Hook Chevrolet.
In addition to his parents and three of his five siblings, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65+ years, Martha.
Joe is survived by his children, Mark Schweitzer (Jennifer), Laura McManus (David), and Scott Schweitzer (Kathy); his brothers, Thomas Eugene Schweitzer, Jr and Robert Gary Schweitzer (Pat); his grandchildren, Blake (Britany), Jordan (Matt), Robert "Bo", and Adam; his great-grandchildren, Maddox, Daxton, Everly, and Vivian; and many loving nieces and nephews.
His memorial visitation will be from 11 am-1 pm followed by a 1 pm memorial service on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, 40205. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
