Joseph Guadalupe Servin

Jose (Dad/Grandpa) was born in Romita, Guanajuato, Mexico on July 19, 1937 to Luz Ibarra and Manuel Servin. He came to San Pablo, California in the 1950's to live with his grandparents Jesus y Margarita Servin. On September 30, 1959 he married Ofelia Garcia Fierro in Ocotlan, Jalisco, Mexico. Shortly after they both left Mexico and moved to San Pablo, California. In October 1960 they had their first child, Maria Lucy, followed by Jorge in January and Irma Christina in December of 1962, Patricia Julia in 1963 and Efrain in 1964. The family came to live and settle in Hayward, Ca. in 1965. Ofelia and Jose lived in Hayward until moving to Salida, Ca. in 2018.
Jose was a sheet metal worker until the 1970's when he became a business owner and opened Casa Wrought Iron in Hayward. Jose and Ofelia were active in their community in such organizations as MAPA and CSO. They were part of the original founders of Familias Unidas de St. Bede's, starting the first Spanish Mass at this church. They went on to be active parishoners at St. Clement Church for over 30 years. Jose was faithful and devout, he prayed daily and taught us all to love God above everything and everyone else. He loved to sing and dance. His humor and his 'ideas' lit up our family and he loved to emphasize each and everyone of his children's and grandchildren's names. He said all of our names in a very special 'grandpa' way.
Jose is survived by his loving wife Ofelia, his children Maria and her husband Gil, Irma and her husband Jose, Patty and her husband Raymond and Efrian and his wife Josie. His oldest son Jorge passed away before him in April of 2024. Jose is grandfather to 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grand-daughter.
We will miss our Dad/Grandpa very much, but we know that he is in heaven smiling, laughing and singing his favorite songs with our brother Jorge.
We love you and you will live forever in our hearts.
