A dedicated family man, and devoted member of Christ Church in Woodbury, NJ. Joe cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, a passionate baseball fan, loved working on his puzzles, and enjoyed the Pitman Theatre plays with anyone he could get to go with him!
Joseph is survived by his children, Colleen K. Gervasi and her husband Joel, Joseph S. Shapley and his wife Dawn, Kevin T. Shapley and his wife Nicole, and Jeremy A. Shapley. Also, by his grandchildren, Joe (Alex), Eryn (Sean), Jessica (Chase), Ryan (Michelle), Katelyn, Jake, Nicholas, Kamryn, and Liam.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vernona "Nonie" Shapley (née Shute).
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ 08051. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.
