In Loving Memory of Joe Shaw
Joseph J. Shaw, age 52, of Delanco, passed away on August 22, 2024, at Virtual Memorial Hospital, Mount Holly. He was the loving father of Ryan Ivey and Tyler Ivey (Taylor); doting "Zeus" to Travis, Tailen and Trenton Ivey. Joe is also survived by his beloved fiancé, Marilyn Wolanski. He was a devoted son to Joe Shaw and Kathleen (Degnan) Shaw; best friend and brother to John Shaw (Molly) and adored "Joey" to Brody and Colin Alloway. Joe is also survived by many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and his life-long friends.
Joe was a 1990 graduate of Father Judge High School, then went on to Williamson College of the Trades where he graduated with a degree in Machine Tool Technology. Joe had a successful career as a Machinist, most recently working for over a decade at Dynamic Machining, Inc., in New Jersey. At Dynamic, Joe served as a leader, a mentor, and a provider of the Friday lunch sessions. He was always willing to teach and share his knowledge and talents with anyone willing to learn.
Joe Shaw was always up for an adventure. He, his friends Bill-Man and Tabes spent many a night traveling to Atlantic City to test their luck and make a little mischief. Whether it was clamming on Assateague Island, cruising the Caribbean, or taking road trips to see his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, Joe knew how to have a good time. Joe loved to go to auctions and yard sales with John and more often than not, Joey would convince John to buy one of the mystery boxes at the Green Dragon because, well, "it's only a dollar!" Together, Joe and John spent their time fishing with their dad, Joe, going to the shore and breakfasts with their mom, Kathy and most recently, "enjoying" Molly's cooking and soft pretzels during football Sundays every Fall. As a family, we all looked forward to our annual Fantasy Football league. Joey was the most competitive, by far and left us with years worth of "tips and tricks" on how to win.
Joe was a proud dad. His greatest accomplishments were his sons, Ryan and Tyler. Joe shared common interests with both his boys. When they were younger, he coached their soccer teams, and they participated in judo together. As Ryan and Tyler grew older, their dad taught them how to crack crab legs in OCMD and spent nights with them and the other "215 Renegades" around the poker table, laughing and making countless memories over the years. His sons were a tremendous source of his pride and joy.
When Joe met Marilyn, he found his partner for life. Thanks to another hobby, his eBay store, he found love at the United States post office, where Marilyn still works. He took her cupcakes one day while dropping off some eBay packages, and as they say, the rest is history. Joe and Marilyn truly did life together. Whether it was cruising to Bermuda or spending time with their dogs in the Happy Hut, being together and making each other happy was their goal each day.
Just when Joe thought his life and his heart were full, Tyler and Taylor gave him his greatest love- his grandchildren. Travis, Tailen and Trenton simply adored their Zeusy and the feeling was mutual. One smile from Tailen, or Travi asking Zues to build his toys with him, showed us all that these kiddos had him wrapped around their little fingers. When Joe was with his grands, life was good, and he was a happy guy.
Dad, Joe, Joey, Zeus, Jose, Mr. Joe. Whatever you called him, chances are you loved him, and he loved you right back with everything in that big heart he had. Joe will be sorely missed by so many. Please join us in celebrating Joe's life on Friday, August 30th, 2024 at a visitation from 10:30am – 12:30pm, followed by a service at 12:30 pm. Services will be held at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road,
