Mr. Skidmore was born February 10, 1950, in Orange, New Jersey to the late Herbert John Kirschmann and Dolores Klesitz Kirschmann. He grew up in Newark, NJ then moved to Dover, NJ and joined the Navy. After his military service he married and moved to Binghamton, NY and in the 70's moved to Dover, DE.
He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Skidmore worked retail, working at a Comic Store in downtown Dover and at the Army Navy Store. He enjoyed working on computers, gaming, collecting stamps, coins, and comics.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, William Skidmore; sister, Edna Fitzgerald and her husband, Jeff Perry; nephew, Joseph Hahn and niece, Allison Hahn.
He is survived by his children, Dawn Marie Hartman and her husband Kevin of Salem, VA and Joseph Unger and his wife Laura of Dover, NJ; lifetime friend, Vicki Jewell of Milford, DE; brothers, Dan Skidmore and his wife Diana of Dover, NJ and James Skidmore and his wife Rose of E. Stroudsburg, PA; sister, Laura Stanton and her husband Wes of Thornhurst, PA; grandchildren, Alexis, Tiffany and Ashley; great grandchildren, Trevor, Peyton, Allie, Beckham and Roy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
