Mary Aneoise Peterson Jennings Seabrook, 78, who lived in Dover, Delaware for the last 3 ½ years, entered her eternal rest on September 16, 2025.

Mary was born on May 10, 1947, at the Storck Club in Augusta, Georgia, to Oliver and Mary Peterson. She spent the first 16 years of her life in Edgefield County, South Carolina. At the young age of 15, she met and fell in love with Frank Jennings, Jr., whom she later married after convincing her mother to grant permission. At the age of 16, they moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, along with her sisters, her mother, and her brother. At the age of 21, she welcomed their daughter, Tamika Ann. Philadelphia remained her home for the next 56 years. Determined to continue her education, she later completed her General Education studies and earned an associate's degree from the Community College of Philadelphia.

In time, Mary shared a devoted long-term relationship with Guyniu King, from which her second daughter, Tonya Olabisi, was born. She would later marry John Oliver Seabrook, with whom she shared 32 years of marriage until his passing.

Professionally, Mary was a dedicated public servant. She worked many years for the State of Pennsylvania, where she built lasting friendships and made a meaningful impact before retiring with honor.

Mary was a woman of remarkable strength, deep faith, and enduring resilience. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-watching Gunsmoke and courtroom television, engaging in spirited conversations about politics, and cherishing moments of reflection with her Bible. She loved the music of Mahalia Jackson, which lifted her spirit and carried her through life's trials. Her favorite color was pink, a fitting reflection of the warmth, grace, and light she brought into every room she entered.

Affectionately known as Ann, Mary, Sista, Mom, Mom-Mom, and G.G., she leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: her daughters, Tamika Ann Brown and Tonya Olabisi Jennings; her sons-in-law, Steven Craig Brown and Norman Ball; her brother, Oliver "Pete/Junior" Peterson (and his wife, Blannie "Bonnie" Peterson); her sisters, Margie Peterson and Sophia Peterson-Agbaje; her grandchildren, Kimberly T. Jennings, Michael A. Jennings, Terravious Boyd, Natuan Boyd, and Christian Ball; and her great-grandchildren, Xymir Ball, Zai'ki Morris, and Azai'a Morris. She is also remembered with love by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Oliver Seabrook, her sister Grace Peterson, her niece Cheryl Peterson, and other cherished family members who now welcome her into eternal peace.

Her legacy of love, faith, service, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held 10AM, Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, DE 19901. A viewing will be held one hour prior. Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
