He was born January 21st, 1970, in VT, St Johns to the late Prestidge Wheeler and Alice Wandless.
Jerry moved to Delaware so he could be there for his mom, something that showed just how much he cared for family. He attended Virginia Tech and St. Johnsbury Academy, where he proudly held the record as the fastest player. Jerry was a devoted Washington Redskins fan, and his strong-willed, stubborn nature was part of what made him who he was. He loved being outdoors, especially when fishing or hunting, and enjoyed spending time with friends at the Moose Lodge in Harrington, where he was once a member.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Paulla Wheeler of Harrington, DE; his children, Joel R. Wheeler (Barbara) of Harrington, DE, Douglas Hennessey (Jordan) of IN, Sarah Gauthier (Ron) of MI, Mellissa Ellis of Harrington, DE, and Kira Barrett (Jake) of MI; his brothers, Shawn Wandless of CT, and Robert Wheeler (Lisa) of NC; his grandchildren, Hayley, Michael, Noah, Chantal, Dominic, Caiden, Hazel, Abel, and Jaxon; and his three great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be private.

Jerry was a great stepbrother and a best friend of mine. I will hold the great memories of you in my heart forever brother. You will be missed so much,I will miss our late night phone calls. You now rest in peace and I will meet you in heaven someday, love you Jerry. Your stepsister LisaHoey
