Joseph Ward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Aug. 23, 2023.
Joseph Ward Junior grew up mostly in Moore, Oklahoma. He loved riding horses and bicycles and chasing girls. Like a lot of young men, he was kind of ornery. He crashed a few cars and was a little wild, but always managed to have fun. He had the biggest heart of anyone; he would give you the shirt off his back. His love of riding bicycles quickly turned into a passion for riding motorcycles, particularly Harleys, which would continue to be a lifelong passion of Joe's. He would ride Harleys throughout the rest of his life. He rode in many poker runs to raise money for charities, down bikers, or whatever the need was. He also enjoyed just riding around town with family and friends - Joe even rode to Sturgis bike rally a couple of times.
As an adult, Joe liked to move around, and he lived in all kinds of different places. He liked living in the mountains, the woods, and even the desert. He was very resourceful and smart, always able to live off the land. Eventually, he did just that with his wife and his two boys, 'til he finally settled back in Moore, where he lived out the rest of his life.
Joe had a very strong work ethic. He was a very hard worker and did not possess a lazy bone in his body. He worked many different jobs during his lifetime. He worked at Purina dog food plant. He had a CDL and did hotshot. He ran the road on a big truck moving furniture. But the job he loved most was tile setting. Joe became a tile setter early in life and he was phenomenal at it. He even went on to have his own business, Southwest Southern Tile. Once Joe finally retired, he did pretty much whatever he wanted to. Riding motorcycles, tinkering on vehicles, or working with his horse and being with his friends and family.
Joe believed in God and was saved. He was an amazing, wonderful man, who was charismatic and larger than life. He was loved by so many, and he will be fiercely missed by all that knew and loved him.
