Joseph Charles Wickman, a man whose laughter was as infectious as his passion for life, left this world on August 5, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on April 12, 1971, in the vibrant city of Saginaw, Michigan, Joseph, or Joe as he was affectionately known, lived a life that was as colorful and memorable as the Star Wars collectibles he cherished.

Joe's story continued in Standish, Michigan, where he drew his last breath, with the love of his life Lela by his side. His beloved wife Lela stood by him as a testament to their unwavering bond. He was a patriarch to his children, Joshua (Raven) Wickman, Zachary (Melissa) Cook, and Jessica Cook, who will carry on his legacy. A soon-to-be grandfather of six, he was already the coolest grandpa. Joe's siblings, William (Deon) Wickman, Jeff (Sara) Wickman, and Sarah (Alex) Pierson, along with his step-mother Onalee Wickman shared in the many chapters of his life's story. His parents, William Wickman and Penny Cleveland, preceded him in death, undoubtedly welcoming him with open arms.

Joe's academic journey saw him graduate from Handy High School, where he was more than just a funny face; he was the guy who could charm his way out of a pop quiz. He also played football and wrestled for the Wildcats. He later obtained an associate's degree in business from Delta College, proving that his intelligence was as sharp as his wit.

His career was as diverse as his interests. Joe started in the trenches, quite literally, working in underground utilities. He located, supervised, trained, and managed operations. Those who worked under Joe's leadership knew they had not just a boss, but a mentor and a friend.

Joe was a man of many hobbies; each pursued with the same fervor as his love for the University of Michigan Football. He camped under the stars, rode side by sides with the wind in his hair, and fished as if the secrets of the universe were at the end of his line. His gun collection was as impressive as his ability to make people laugh, and his Star Wars memorabilia was as revered as the classics themselves.

Not one to sit still, Joe could be found at auctions, his eyes sparkling with the thrill of the hunt. He had an uncanny ability to spot treasures among the trinkets, turning his love of buying and selling antiques into a personal quest for the Holy Grail of garage sales.

The words that best describe Joe are intelligent, passionate, and funny. He was not just the life of the party; he was the party. His humor could defuse any situation, and his laughter will echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Joseph Charles Wickman's life was a masterclass in joy, a symphony of chuckles, and a legacy of love. His story may have ended, but his punchlines will live on forever in the memories of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Joe, may the force be with you, always.

A Celebration of Joe's Life will be announced at a later date.
