Josephine Arlena Jordan Williams was born on Tuesday, February 20, 1934, in Mobile, Alabama, to Mrs. Julia Lee Parks Buchanan and Mr. Leon Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Lester Earl Jordan, and her great-grandson, Jordan Gray.
Josephine graduated with the Class of 1952 from the Josephine Allen Private Institute in Mobile, Alabama.
For many years, she was a member of Lily Baptist Church until her health began to decline. Throughout her life, she served in various roles at the church and was always willing to assist wherever needed. Josephine was known for her generosity and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She cherished raising her children and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Professionally, Josephine worked at the Courtaulds Fibers Rayon Plant in Axis, Alabama. After her retirement from Courtaulds, she served as a transportation aide for Franklin Primary Health Clinics. In her retirement, she traveled extensively, cherished her family, and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Josephine Arlena Jordan Williams was called to eternal rest in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.
Her precious memories will be cherished by those who loved her, including her daughters, Jacqueline Thomas Claude and Joycelyn Thomas Cole (Carson), both of Mobile, Alabama; her son, Andre L. Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Nigia McCaskill (Henry), Keland Claude (Andreanna), Aladrienne Jordan, Jolandra McNeil (Timothy), Tierra Tracy, Andre Williams II, Symone Ariel Turner (Trequan), Daysia Veal, and Carson Juwan Cole. She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, two special cousins, Ronnie Wilson (Marlene) and Vandlyn Wilson Pierre, as well as the entire Parks and Jordan families, friends, former co-workers, and her church family.
