Josephine Mezza, 91, of New Castle, PA passed away the evening of September 8, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born in Ambridge, PA on February 22, 1933, Josephine was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Agata Volana Lascala.
On April 26, 1958, Josephine married her beloved husband, John J. Mezza. John preceded her in death on May 6, 2010.
Josephine was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church.
She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards and baking. A loving mother and Nana, Josephine's greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Josephine is survived by her three children, Vincent Mezza (Diane), Yolanda Harper and Mary Hiler (Mark), her sister, Mary Schwertz and her four grandchildren, Laura Harper, Jennifer Hiler, John Harper (Katherine) and Justin Hiler.
In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by her daughter, Margie Mezza in 2021, son-in-law, James Harper in 2019, brother, Philip LaSalle, 2016 and her sister, Grace Mattia in 2023.
Visitation will be on Friday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit
Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate.
Entombment will be at Parkside Mausoleum.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice House: 146 Neely School Rd., Wexford PA 15090
