Josephine Whitacre Michelson, age 91, passed away May 3, 2024. Born January 31, 1933, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Price and Marie Whitacre. Josephine was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Education. She taught in several school districts including Madison and Geneva elementary schools for 40 years. She loved watching those children learn and grow.
She married Armand Michelson on June 10, 1956. They were avid golfers and active in several leagues over the years. Josephine enjoyed word games like Scrabble and Upwords and was a competitive champion. She was a great cook and experimented in the kitchen with different dishes. She enjoyed Hallmark movies. But the two things she liked best was her garden and sitting on her porch looking at her garden. She couldn't have enough tomatoes.
Josphine is survived by her children, David of Sebastian, Florida; Phillip of Madison, Ohio; Kristin Bassett (Gary) of Jacksonville, Florida; Steven (Cindy) of Dublin, Ohio; and grandchildren Tiffany, Melissa, Allison, Savanna, Valerie and Katherine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Armand, and her siblings Mary and Fred.
Services are pending.

Jo was my roommate in Baker Hall, Ohio State, 1953-54.
What a ride! She was fun, hilarious, madly in love with Mike and most important she was the intercessor bringing my future husband, Larry Thomas, also of Zanesville, into my life. Without Jo I would never have had 58 years with Larry!
She is with Mike, her prize!
