Joshua Smith Obituary

Joshua McKenzie Smith

On August 9, 2025, of Washington Twp. Age 29. Beloved son of Brian Smith and Debra Whitby. Dear brother of Christopher Smith (Andrea). Loving uncle of Maximus. Dear grandson of Sally J. Carney and the late Howard and Marie Whitby. Loved by aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joshua, a proud graduate of Washington Township High School's Class of 2014, embarked on a journey of self-discovery that led him to briefly attend college in Santa Barbara, California. After a year, he realized college wasn't his path and returned home, determined to forge his own way. Two years later, his perseverance paid off when he was accepted into the prestigious IBEW Local 98 Electrician's Union apprenticeship program in Philadelphia. Josh dedicated five years to mastering his craft, becoming a skilled journeyman electrician and a valued leader at New Light Electric Co., where he ran projects with confidence and expertise.

Josh's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with passions that defined his spirit. Music was his heartbeat-an avid appreciator of all genres, with a special love for reggae, EDM, and dubstep in their purest forms. He poured his soul into producing beats, competing locally, and teaching himself to play the guitar with unwavering dedication. His love for the outdoors, inspired by his father, fueled adventures in skiing, snowboarding, camping, golfing, and surfing in his younger years. Above all, fishing with his father and brother held a sacred place in his heart, a bond that grew stronger with every cast.

Josh's zest for life extended to his recent joy of becoming an uncle to his beloved nephew, Maximus, a role he embraced with boundless excitement. His adventurous spirit led him to train in Muay Thai, competing with courage, and to travel to breathtaking destinations-tropical islands, majestic mountains, and serene landscapes that mirrored his appreciation for beauty and peace.

What truly set Josh apart was his deep love for family and friends. His loyalty was unshakable, his generosity boundless, and his willingness to help others a testament to his character. With a radiant smile and an infectious laugh, Josh had a rare gift for making everyone feel at ease and welcomed. His laid-back charm and big heart left an indelible mark on everyone he met, turning strangers into friends and moments into memories.

Our hearts ache with the profound loss of such a vibrant soul. Josh leaves behind his cherished companions, his dogs Ozzy and Willow, who will be lovingly cared for in his absence. Joshua's legacy is one of love, adventure, and an unyielding spirit that will live on in all who knew him. His vibrant smile and joyous laugh will echo in our hearts forever.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday August 16th 12:00-2:00 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 2:00 PM.
