Dr. Joy E. Cooper, a beloved member of the Strasburg community, passed away at the age of 79 on October 27, 2025, in Strasburg, Colorado. She was born on October 16, 1946, in Lyons, Kansas, to Tom and Betty (Smith) Edwards, who have since preceded her in death.
Joy's educational journey began at Gunnison High School and continued at the University of Wyoming. She then attended CU Medical School and completed her studies at Cleveland Chiropractic College. For 30 years, she devoted her life to serving others as a chiropractor, positively impacting the health and well-being of countless individuals in Strasburg.
On September 3, 1985, Joy married Harold "Butch" Cooper, in Denver, Colorado. Together, they built a loving home filled with warmth and joy. Joy's family continued to grow, and she cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Tom (Renee) Walker of Sheridan, Wyoming; her step-daughter, Heather Brandon of Denver, Colorado; and her grandchildren, Matt Walker of Hawaii, and Ellie and Madison Walker of Sheridan, Wyoming. Joy also leaves behind her sister, Lyle Jane (Walter) Gould of Cheney, Kansas, along with six nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Throughout her life, Joy found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and interests. She had a profound love for reading the Bible and engaging in Bible studies with her friends. Joy expressed her creativity through sewing, needlepoint, counter cross stitch, quilting, painting, and working lovingly in her yard and flower garden.
Dr. Joy E. Cooper has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and love. Her contributions to both her profession and her community will never be forgotten, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
