Joy Elane Crouch was born January 25, 1950 and passed away on December 19, 2024.
Born and reared in Wetumka, Joy held her memories of life as a child and young adult very dear and loved to share stories about her adventures and experiences growing up there.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wanda Bachus Crouch Kifer and Cecil Crouch; her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Paula Abney; and her maternal and paternal grandparents, Bertha and Gomer Bachus and Minnie and Arch Crouch.
Joy attended Wetumka schools and was graduated from Wetumka High School in 1968.
She went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics at East Central University where she graduated with honors. Joy found employment with the Social Security Administration upon graduation and worked with the Agency until her retirement. She was one of the first women to serve in the role of Regional Manager.
She worked diligently to ensure that those she served were treated well, fairly, and
kindly. She also conducted genealogical research and was a passionate explorer who
loved learning new things and traveling.
A graveside service will be held at the Wetumka Cemetery on Saturday, December 21,
2024 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the the Abney, Bachus, Crouch (ABC)
Scholarship which Joy created to acknowledge the achievement of the student who has
the third highest grade point average in the class. Please specify Crouch scholarship in
the memo line. Donation checks may be made out to Wetumka HS and mailed to Randi
Bellinger, Counselor at Wetumka High School, 416 South Tiger, Wetumka, OK 74883.
