Joyce Ann Applegate

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on December 4th, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Haskell. No viewing or visitation will be held.
Joyce Ann Applegate was born on September 19, 1932 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Earl Obryan and Berdie (Barnett) Obryan. She passed away on Sunday night, November 24, 2024 at her home in Haskell, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 5 days.
Joyce was a woman of great character and spread her good cheer and wonderful sense of humor wherever she went. She loved nature and especially enjoyed flowers. Many hours were spent planting and caring for numerous flower gardens around her property. Living in the country, Joyce had the privilege of caring for countless animals, whether her own animals, strays, or the occasional wild animal, she would always do her best to make sure they were well cared for. Holidays were always special to Joyce. She enjoyed having her family together and had an impeccable taste in her decorations.
Joyce was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Haskell. She served in many capacities throughout the years. She and her husband Lonnie made lifelong friendships that were cherished throughout her life. Joyce's greatest love was for her Savior, and she would willingly share her faith with others.
Her second greatest love was for her family. She doted on her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A greater role model and mother could not be found. Her legacy will live on in the lives that she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ricky Dale Cranford and wife Cindy, daughter, Wilma Lee McGuire and husband Dave, daughter Earlene Zaring and husband Steve, as well as one brother, Leroy Obryan and wife Lena. She also leaves her grandchildren: Chelsey Cranford, Matthew Zaring, Lonnie Ray White, and Mechelle Ward and husband Jon, 5 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Berdie Obryan, her husband, Lonnie Dale "Skeet" Applegate, and siblings: Bobby Obryan, Earl Obryan, Jr., and Welma Obryan.
