JOYCE DISTASIO BANKS
Clyde, NC – Joyce Ann (Distasio) Banks, age 77, of Clyde, NC, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on July 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 21, 1948, Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late James Vincent Distasio, Sr. and Jacqueline Rose Distasio. Raised in a home rooted in faith and strong family bonds, she lived a life devoted to love, kindness, and care for others.
Joyce was the devoted wife of Jim Banks, with whom she shared a joyful and enduring marriage. She was a loving mother to Leslie A. Jones Jr. (Stephanie), Christopher J. Jones (Cynthia), Shelli J. Coggins (Ryan), and Tim Banks (Deanna), and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Joyce's greatest joy was found in her family, and she gave endlessly of herself to nurture and guide those she loved.
She is also survived by her brother, Keith Distasio (Kim) of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and many adoring nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jacqueline Distasio, and her brothers, Pastor James Vincent Distasio, Jr. and William Distasio.
A Celebration of Life to honor Joyce will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on July 26, 2025, at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Services, Maggie Valley, NC.
Joyce will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, fiery independence, and the deep love she extended to all. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
