Joyce Jelaine Clark, 74, of Herod, GA, passed on November 14, 2024 at The Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at Lakeside Baptist Church. Rev. Andrew Kornegay and Rev. Carl Dunn will officiate. The committal will follow at 2:00 pm at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery in Doerun, GA.
Jelaine was born on February 22, 1950 to Norman Lee and Lossie Elizabeth Massey Tanner in Colquitt County, GA. She was raised in Doerun, lived in Columbus, GA for a time, and moved to Albany, GA in 1972. Jelaine was a homemaker most of her life. She married her husband, Jimmy Clark, in 1978 and had a wonderful life together for forty six years.
Jelaine was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and the Dennis Cooper Sunday School Class. She was a long-time member of Radium Springs Baptist Church in Albany, GA where she met many lifelong friends and impacted so many lives during her walk of faith. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, board games with her family, decorating for the holidays, and listening/dancing with family to music. She was an excellent cook and loved entertaining for her large family. She loved all of her nieces and nephews like her own children.
Survivors include her husband, James C. “Jimmy” Clark of Dawson, GA, her children, Tammie Senn Anderson of Dawson, GA and Mandy (Justin "Opie") Owens of Albany, GA, her step-children, Starla Dawson of Opelika, AL and Michael Clark of Chicago, IL, her grandchildren, Brittany (Paxton) Gordon of Hahira, GA, Johnathan Cirullo of Alamogordo, NM, Tristan Anderson of Dawson, GA, Maci Owens of Albany, GA, Denzel Gowdy (Avery) of Tifton, GA, Clay (Katie) Dawson of Opelika, AL, Kyle (Donna) Dawson of Washougal, WA, Chase (Catherine) Dawson of Columbus, GA, and Jonathan Dawson (Jessica) of Opelika, AL. and eleven great-grandchildren, her sisters, Imogene Harrah (Bobby) and Debra Tharpe of Sylvester, GA, and Marsha Brooks of Moultrie, GA, sister in law Polly Tanner her brothers, Toby Tanner of Albany, GA, and Terry Tanner (Diane) of Leesburg, GA, special caregivers and friends, Jodie Monts and Hazel Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Ronnie Tanner, Mack Tanner, Glenn Tanner, Alvin Tanner, and step-father Tom Carlton of Moultrie, GA. Son in laws: Matthew Cirullo of Sylvester GA and James Dawson of Opelika AL
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Tuesday before the service at Lakeside Baptist Church in Leesburg, GA.
