Joyce Marie Dellinger

Joyce Marie Dellinger, age 76, of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. Born February 1, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Roy Sloan and Viola Barnes Sloan.
Joyce lived her life with a genuineness that reflected her true self-a caring, giving, loving individual. Her sense of humor and fun-loving spirit came through even in the toughest of circumstances. She was always ready for good conversation, applying her subtle wit, in discussing creative ideas, and thoughtful questions. Her relaxed and radiant smile made you feel at home and cared for. Her love of all animals and care for them reflected the true nature of her character. She inspired many by the grace in which she lived. Joyce had a special love for animals; her cats and raccoons never left her side throughout all of her struggles. Yes, certain raccoons would come to get the special treat she saved for them.
In addition to her parents, Roy and Viola Sloan, she was preceded in death by Wayne LeRoy Sloan, James Harold Sloan, Elton Winfield Sloan, Margaret Ellen Sloan-Martin, Mary Frances Sloan-James, and Brenda Lou Sloan-Holden.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Dellinger; sister, Betty Ann Sloan-Merck; daughter, Clarissa Anne King, her husband Joe King, granddaughter Samantha King; son, John Dellinger; granddaughter, Celeste Rose Dellinger, and her mother Charlotte Adams, nieces/nephews, and neighbors of Hunter's Glen/Cove.
A memorial service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in the Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Solan officiating.
