Joyce L. George ObituaryUNIONTOWN, OHIO – Joyce L. George, 68, of Uniontown, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.
Joyce was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on July 25, 1957, a daughter of the late Dean F. "Bud" and Jean (McGaffic) DeLong. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1975. Joyce was an educator at the Jefferson County Christian School. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Preceding Joyce in death was her sister Jane Ann Hammond; brother-in-law Jim Swoger and father-in-law Rev. Paul Dean George.
God found Joyce at the Boyce Church in 1972 and she faithfully followed Him for the next 54 years. She was the consummate pastor's wife excelling in ministry to children and the elderly. She had a strength of inner character and a kindness that equipped her for challenging endeavors. Her heart was with inner city children as evidenced in her continued work with the youth of inner-city Canton, Ohio even as she battled early onset Alzheimer's disease.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 47 years Rev P. Douglas George, whom she married January 6, 1978; children Rev. P. Wesley George and his wife Susan of Dover, OH, Rev. Dr. Jonathan George and his wife Dr. Emily of Massillon, OH and Amanda Brubaker and her husband Rev. Dr. Sean of Ellwood City, PA; eight grandchildren Rachel Eden Brubaker, Katelynn Grace George, Lydia Jane Brubaker, Melody Eve George, Magdalene Joy Brubaker, Michael Dean George, Amelia Charity George and Adeline Faith George; sister Amy Swoger and mother-in-law Margaret George.
Friends may visit Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the +Boyce Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Alvin Talkington, Rev. Dr. Keith Bohley, Rev. Rick Dawson and Rev. Dr. Carl Fannin officiating. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Following the committal service the family will gather at the Boyce Church for a time of fellowship.
