Joyce Crants Killigrew

Obituary
Joyce Crants Killigrew, 95, a lifelong resident of Corning, New York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
She was born on June 25, 1927 in Corning, New York, the daughter of Doctor Moses and Amey Jane (Miller) Crants. Her days at Northside Blodgett High School were filled with fond memories and often the topic of many conversations. She graduated from Northside Blodgett High School in 1945, remaining a steadfast friend to her classmates, until her death. After graduation she went to work for the New York Telephone Company.
On July 11, 1953, Joyce married Daniel Lee Killigrew, Jr., who predeceased her in November of 2004. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She loved her home and entertaining guests. For entertainment, she enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and singing with a barbershop group. She modeled what it meant to live life to the fullest! Joyce was a member of the First Congregational Church where she was involved with women's groups and activities.
She is survived by daughter, Kathleen (Guy) Grantier of Danville, Va., son Daniel John (Jolene) of Fairfax, VA., her beloved grandchildren Erin Schott (Ron) of Charlottesville, Va., Kyle Grantier (Townsend Horvath) of Arlington, VA, Chelsea Killigrew of Fairfax, VA, Max Killigrew of Encinitas, CA and Daniel Lee Killigrew (Sutton) of Manassas, VA. She adored the company of her great grandchildren Kensington, Conrad, and Wells Schott and Layla and Walker Killigrew. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was especially proud and enjoyed the company of Doug Sutherland (Nancy) and Gary (Gretchen) Sutherland and Denece and Al Gossie.
Joyce was also preceded in death by her sons Paul in 2005, and John in 2014. Per Joyce's request, John will be celebrated with her.
We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the caregivers at Brookdale of Painted Post, Mary Wheeler, Mary Rose Cook, Denece and Al Gossie. Joyce attributed her long life to the very special care she received from Dr. Russell C. Woglom!
The family will have a private graveside service at St. Mary's Cemetery. We invite family and friends to a Celebration of Life for Joyce and John at The Center, 400 Park Ave., Corning on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
