Joyce Laura Wichman, 81, passed away November 3, 2024 surrounded by her family. Joyce was born May 27, 1943, daughter of the late Martin and Selma (Jentz) Dettmann. She married Ken Wichman and enjoyed 44 years of marriage together before his death. They resided on the family farm in the town of Center. Growing up, Joyce worked on the farm and continued doing so after getting married. She was employed later in life at Kimberly Clark Atlas Mill with Ken. Followed by Pensar, where she retired. Since being an only child, Joyce enjoyed having brothers and sisters-in-law. She spent a lot of time with them traveling, attending horse shows, stockcar races and other activities. She was an active volunteer when her children were younger at Freedom Area Schools and at the front desk at Appleton Medical Center. Joyce was a member of the Ladies Aid club at St. John’s and a part of a sewing group with a bunch of ladies although no sewing ever got done! Wherever Joyce went, she developed new friendships and often was referred to as a second mom to many of her children’s friends. She enjoyed her time with lifelong friends from grade school and neighborhood friends that she truly cherished but most important to Joyce, was her family. Her granddaughters have many stories of spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.
She is survived by her children: Debra Kiley of Appleton, David (Tina) Wichman of Seymour, Kay Wichman of Appleton; seven grandchildren: Stephanie Pufall, Alex Kiley, Mindy (Chris) Duescher, Dana Wichman, Melanie Wichman, Vincent Walker and Nathan Kerrigan and In-Laws Wesley (Audrey) Wichman of Littleton, Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Kenneth Wichman and her parents. In addition, she was proceeded in death by her In-Laws Edwin Wichman and Vera (Irvin) Herzfeldt, Joan and Elwood Hopfensperger and her stepson, Robert Kerrigan.
The Christian Funeral Service for Joyce will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at ST. JOHN EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, Highway 47 North of Appleton. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
