Joyce Lyons Obituary

As a girl growing up in Burrton, she was a natural athlete, the only girl in her class at Burrton Elementary School who could throw like the boys. After the family moved to Hutchinson, KS, she participated in athletic activities at Hutchinson High School, where she graduated with the class of 1965. She remained in Hutchinson as a life-long resident. For most of her adult life Joyce supplemented her income from various employments by maintaining a richly diverse inventory of needful things to offer at flea markets. She often spoke of her affection for people who would visit her booth from time to time in the course of many years.
Joyce is survived by: her brothers, Anthony, Roger, and Ralph Lyons; sisters-in-law, Shirley Lyons and Linda Anderson; nieces, Callie, Mandie, and Tara Lyons; nephews, Paul, Ty, and Timothy Lyons; and a close circle of devoted friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Karen Lyons; and sister-in-law, Diane Lyons.
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held in Dilton, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mennonite Friendship Communities, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

I have known Joyce for a few years. Joyce was such a sweet and kind woman. I loved talking with her-she was such a character! I am heartbroken to hear of her passing. Condolences to her family-she will be missed and remembered.
