Joyce Ann Mullinix

Mullinix, Joyce Ann, age 87, of Edina, passed away peacefully on December 21,

Joyce was born on February 7, 1938, in Rock Island, Illinois, to William "Fred" and

Katherine F. Scott. She dedicated 35 years to teaching in the Richfield school system,

where she touched the lives of countless students as both a Special Education and

third-grade teacher. Joyce earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating with honors

from the University of Iowa, and later received her Master's degree from St. Thomas

College in St. Paul, Minnesota, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning and

service.

A longtime and devoted member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, Joyce found

great joy in community and connection. She loved staying active, especially through

tennis and golf, and cherished her weekly Bridge Club, of which she was a member for

25 years, until Alzheimer's disease gradually took that pleasure from her.

Joyce shared a deep love of travel with her husband, Mike. Together they explored

much of Europe, visiting 13 countries during the 1980s, and later spent more than 30

winters in Bonita Beach, Florida. Family trips, often to destinations warmer than

Minnesota, were treasured traditions filled with laughter and lasting memories. Joyce

was a bright light in this world, known for her joyful, embracing spirit that drew abundant

friendships throughout her life.

Joyce is survived by her devoted husband of 63½ years, Mike; her sons, Scott (Ann)

and Jeff (D'Ette); and her cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Lily, and Matthew.

Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice. A private family service will be held at a

later date
