Lula Joyce Simpson PEEL, 82, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2024, at her home in Nicholasville, KY. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Peel; parents Taylor and Esther Corn Simpson; sister Catherine Simpson Gruner; brothers T.H., James Donald, Johnnie C., and William (Billy) Taylor Simpson. She is survived by three sons; Jeffery Dewayne (Missy) Peel of Nicholasville, Jerald Keith (Niki) Peel of Tupelo, MS, and Justin Randolph (Kathrine) Peel of Nicholasville, KY; two grandchildren, Jennifer Nicole (Tom) Morton of Lexington, Jordan Kent (Janette) Peel of Nicholasville; one step-granddaughter, Debra LeeAnn Anderson of Park City, KY; three great grandchildren Andrew, Benjamin and Caleb Morton of Lexington; one sister Lettie Mae Simpson Royalty of Louisville; one brother Marchus Dwight Simpson of Mackville, KY; and special friends Sue Peel Reynolds, Frankie Reynolds, Diana Griffieth, Florence Stinnett and Donna Corum. She was a graduate of Mackville High School and attended the Cincinnati Bible College. She was a staff assistant at the College of Agriculture, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering department at the University of Kentucky for 40 years. She was an active member of the Sulphur Well Christian Church; taught vacation bible school, lead choir and played the piano for several years. Funeral services will be officiated by Minister Dale Sanders and Minister Tom Fore at 12:30 PM on Wed., Jan. 10, 2024, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd, Lexington, KY 40513. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens, 4915 Harrodsburg Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Wed., Jan 10, 2024, at the funeral home.
