Joyce Nina (Francis) Reed, 95, of Des Moines passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025 at Parkridge Specialty Care Center in Pleasant Hill. She was born July 25, 1929 in Iowa City, IA. Her parents were Michael Antony Giblin and Dorothy Pearl Francis. She graduated from Bondurant High School in 1948, married Willard Wayne Reed of Hartford, IA on May 5, 1948 in Knoxville, IA. Eight children were born of that union. She is survived by six of her children: Larry (Norris) Reed of Milton, FL; Fonda (Craig) Martin of Runnells, IA; Susan Lynch of Carthage, IL; Sandra Poindexter of Osceola; Connie (Steve) Sandegren of Boone and Michael Reed of Des Moines. She is also survived by over 100 descendants (grand children, great, great-great and great-great-great grand children). She was preceded in death by her ex-husband Willard Reed, her son Charles Reed and her daughter Dorothy (Terry) Maden. Joyce raised her children in the Missouri Synod Lutheran church in Creston, IA and Des Moines, IA. She later attended Union Park Baptist church. She enjoyed being a part of their sewing guild. She was an avid reader. Funeral service will be on Monday, January 20th, at 2 pm with visitation at 1 pm at The Church of Union Park, 821 Arthur St, Des Moines.
