Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. - Leesport on Dec. 5, 2025.
Rev. Joyce A. Seip, 78, of Reading, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest.

Born in Perry Twp., she was the daughter of the late Walter W. Seip and Dorothy B. (James) DeLong. She graduated from Hamburg Area High School in 1965; and later received a master's degree from Millersville University in Special Education. She later graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia. Pastor Joyce Seip was ordained in 1982 as a Lutheran pastor. She served at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Marlton NJ and at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Keyport NJ. She served with the New Jersey Synod in Trenton NJ doing Social Ministry work before moving back home to Berks County. She served various local Lutheran congregations as a supply/interim pastor including St.Paul's and Nativity, Reading; Bethany, West Reading; and St. Paul's, Port Carbon.. She served as a Summer Program Assistant at Christ, Glenside and was a member there for more than 25 years. She loved cats and animals; she always had a lot of pets. Joyce loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and other puzzles. She enjoyed traveling; and enjoyed every moment she could spend with her grandchildren. Joyce was a woman of courage as she battled poor health for years receiving dialysis 3 days each week. Her sister, Judy and her husband Bob, and sister Jannes, were very supportive of Joyce.

She is survived by a daughter: Jessica I. Seip; a son: Caleb A. Seip; three grandchildren: Micah Seip, and Gabby and Logan Morales. She is also survived by a brother: Eugene D. Seip, Hegins, PA; two sisters: Judy F. (Seip) Englebach, wife of Robert J., Wyomissing, and Jannes L. (Seip) Strauch, Hollywood, FL; and her nieces and nephew: Tiffany, wife of Michael, Stephanie, wife of Robert, and Timothy, husband of Starr.

My Dear Sister suffered so much in her life! But she always kept her Spirits up with her sense of humor! I'm so THANKFUL for the days I got to spend with her the last few months she was in & out of the Hospitals & Rehabs! We talked & shared laughs together! She always faced her "Battles" with courage! She LOVED her Pets and had many over the years! She left behind her beloved cats , Mepkin & Gramps. We are thankful that we found a good home for them! I'm sure they are missing her as much as we do! :0( She is suffering no more! Rest in peace my Dear Sister! Love, Judy & Bob

My thoughts and prayers are with Pastor Joyce's families. She was a very spiritual person and always a joy to talk with her and upbeat no matter what was happening in life. Our telephone conversations and memories of her over the years will always be remembered.
