BERKSHIRE - Joyce M. Weld, age 80, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the University of Vermont medical Center in Burlington.
She was born in Berkshire on June 23, 1942 to the late Woodrow & Ida (Domina) King.
Joyce grew up in Berkshire and graduated from Richford High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Weld on February 3, 1962. Joyce and Doug farmed throughout most of their life and raised their three children in Berkshire. She was an active member of the community and was a proud member of the Berkshire Historical Society, and the Dorcas Society. In addition to helping on the farm, Joyce worked at the Berkshire School in the hot lunch program, and for the Dairy Center. Joyce loved children, and she had a hand in raising her grandchildren because she was the primary childcare provider of the Weld family. She loved to decorate for the holidays, especially Christmas, watching the Hallmark Channel, and tending to her flower gardens.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Douglas Weld; their children, Mark Weld, Michael Weld and his wife Sharon, and Mary Sylvester and her husband Wayne; grandchildren, Valarie Hilliker and her husband Robert, Jamason Weld and his wife Katelyn, Matthew Weld, Ben Sylvester and his significant other Jen Lanphear, Alex Weld, Taryn Gervais and her husband Michael, and Jenna Lawrence and her husband Jeremy; great grandchildren, Addison, Hayden, Kysen, Isabell, Deacon, Kamryn, Maddyn, Allison, Marlee, Leah, Hailey, Carleigh, Cooper, Kace, and Kenzie; siblings, Marcella Miner and her husband Evan, Douglas King and his wife Suzanne, Carol King, and Richard King and his wife Diane; siblings-in-law, James Weld and his wife Gloria, Ethelyn Dubuque and her husband Everett, and Janet Longe and her husband Steven; and many nieces & nephews; Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Woodrow & Ida King; and in-laws, Floyd & Lois Weld.
Friends & family are invited to Joyce's life celebration to include visitation on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 4-7:00 PM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home. Interment will follow in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.
