Joyce Williams

Joyce Williams, 84, of Pampa, passed away, January 10, 2022, in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Dean Whaley a Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Joyce's service will be livestreamed thru the funeral home's website.
Joyce will be available for viewing from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Thursday and until service time on Friday.
Joyce was born on September 27, 1937, in Wheeler County, to Vera and Carl Amerson. She won the 4H Lone Star Girl Award in 1954. She had enough blue ribbons to make a bedspread. She was Valedictorian at Samnorwood, Tx in 1955. Joyce met Buck Williams and they married on June 12, 1955, in Dozier, Tx. In 1964, they moved from McLean to Pampa for Buck's position as Game Warden with TPWD, and they became longtime residents. Joyce was a professional woman whose career spanned banking, real estate, and owning and operating her own insurance company, Williams-Germania Insurance Company for twenty years. She was a former President of Altrusa. She was a talented woman who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting. They lived in their mountain home in Timberon, NM, from 2000 until 2006. Buck and Joyce have been members of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ for 57 years.
Joyce was always pleasant and happy despite her handicap. Take a lesson from her - If you can't remember anything else, remember how to be happy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law, Joe Knoll and John Murphy and sister-in-law Lois (Bid) Murphy.
Her survivors include her husband, Buck Williams; a son, Victor Williams and wife Patti of Pampa; a daughter, Velda Shults and husband Kurt of McCloud, Ok; three granddaughters, Vicki Vogt of Amarillo, Angie Smith and husband Steven of Pampa, and Krista Cox and husband Matt of Konawa, Ok; a grandson, Devan Shults of Colorado Springs, Co; nine greatgrandchildren, Payton, Mazi, Parker, Brady, Clara, Henry, Ava, Mack, and Halley; a brother, Don Amerson and wife Donna of Alvin; a sister, Lois Knoll of Shamrock; a grandson-in-law, Brian Vogt of Amarillo; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
