Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Son
WATERBURY- It is with broken hearts that the family of Juan Bautista Torres Lugo, age 77, of Waterbury, share the news of his peaceful passing on Tuesday February 11th, 2025 at the Vitas Inpatient Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Rogers) Torres.
Juan was born in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, on June 24th, 1948, the son of Virgenmina Lugo Ramirez of Puerto Rico and the late Elmo Torres Lugo. Juan was a dedicated and devoted mechanic and worked in the foundry trade for many years and retired from Rex Forge in Plantsville. He enjoyed baseball especially, watching his favorite team, the NY Mets, deep sea fishing, playing dominos, playing guitar, went to various senior centers in town. He also enjoyed going home to Puerto Rico to visit family and spending time with his very devoted dog; Ozzy Thunder. Juan loved nothing more than spending time with his loving family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Besides his loving wife of 45 years, Susan and his mother Virgenmina, left to cherish and honor his memory are his children; Paul Torres and his wife Ruby of Torrington, Ileana Torres Bashaw and her husband Jason of Naugatuck, his grandchildren; Wilson, Jayna, Antoni, Brayden and Avery and his siblings; Emilia Torres Lugo, Elsa Iris Torres Lugo, Ruthmila Torres Lugo and Radames Torres Lugo. Besides his father Elmo, he is also predeceased by his sisters Rosa Elena Torres Lugo and Carmen Torres Lugo. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Torres Lugo will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at 10:30 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects and visit with the Torres Lugo family on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence and share a memory or words of comfort with the family and friends of someone who was important to you.
