WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Luis Torres Lugo, age 71, of Waterbury, shares the news of his unexpected passing after a tragic accident that occurred on September 11th on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Zelidez Torres Rosado.
Luis was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on December 30, 1953, the son of the late Ramon Torres and Carmen Lugo. At the young age of 12, he immigrated to Waterbury, Connecticut, where he made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was a dedicated and compassionate man who cherished his family and friends above all else. He proudly owned and operated Dorado Cafe Bar in Waterbury for 20 years, where he invested hours of hard work and devotion to his business. Known for his unwavering work ethic, Luis was a true jack of all trades always willing to lend a hand to those in need, whether it was through his skills in remodeling, mechanic work, carpentry, or plumbing. He loved travelling, especially to Puerto Rico to visit with friends and family. He loved his family more than anything.
In this time of grief, we reflect on the joy that Luis brought into our lives and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
