Juanita "Nita" Cavin Gautreau, 76 years old, beloved Mother, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on August 30, 1948, born to Estelle and Elgen Thornton, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was faithful in caring for her family at every opportunity and loved having family over for Sunday dinners at her home. Nita will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Juanita is survived by her sons, Alton Teekel, Jr. (Terry), Danny Teekel (Pam), and Shane Teekel (Georgette); grandchildren, Dustin, Alton III, Brandon, Shane Lee, Tyler, Ryan, Allison, Joshua, Matthew Teekel; great-grandchildren, Braxton Teekel, Dani Achee and Oliver Sexton; brother, Billy Wayne Thornton; sister, Vivian Cavalier; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Butch Gautreau; her father, Elgen Thornton, Sr.; mother, Estelle Thornton; son, Mark Adam Teekel; brother, Elgen Thornton Jr; and a sister, Marie Rayburn.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin, Alton III, Shane Lee, Ryan, Matthew and Braxton Teekel.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Dr. Eddie Wren. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Baker, Louisiana.
