Juanita E. Lopez, a beloved matriarch and strong woman, passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, on February 22, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 4, 1946, in Donna, Texas, she was known for her feisty personality and vibrant spirit that left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Juanita was a passionate soul who embraced life with open arms. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as dancing and enjoying mariachi music, often accompanied by her favorite margarita. Her love for family gatherings provided a strong foundation for cherished memories among her loved ones. Sunday nights were especially memorable as they were often filled with movies and dinner shared as a family, reflecting her dedication to building relationships and creating lasting bonds.
An avid quilter and gardener, Juanita sought creativity and beauty in all aspects of her life. Her hands were often busy crafting exquisite quilts, each stitch a testament to her love and skill. Outside, her garden flourished under her care, providing a serene escape and a bounty of blooms for her family to enjoy.
Juanita will be deeply missed by her family, including her devoted husband of 62 years, Ricardo Lopez. She is also survived by her daughters, Viola (Daniel Sr.), Velma, Naomi (Mark), and her sons, Richard Jr., Phillip (Andres). her legacy continues through her numerous grandchildren-Daniel Jr., Matthew, Jonathon (Erica), Minna (Jacob), Amelia (Francios), Jose Sr. (Irma), Elizabeth, Mercedes (Joe), Alexis, Ramiro Sr., and Angel (Sol)-who all carry part of her spirit. The joy she brought to their lives will be felt by her great-grandchildren as well: Natalie, Madison, Mattox, Penelope, Mason, Hannah, Daniela, Jose "BJ" Jr., Liam, Maverick, Isabella, Jaden, Mila, Ramiro Jr., Sebastian, and Nikki.
A visitation will be held in honor of Juanita on February 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 1:30 PM at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South, located at 3520 South Flores Street, San Antonio, TX 78204.
Juanita E. Lopez leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Her love, strength, and vibrant spirit will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing her.
