Juanita A. Maes, 100 graduated to heaven on Thursday, October 12, 2023. Juanita was born on April 21, 1923, to Ben and Eva Vigil. She was a fourth generation Coloradan and a lifelong Red Wing, CO resident. She is survived by her son Patrick Maes and daughters Vel Termeer (Dan), Edith Maes Rodriguez, (John), stepdaughter Margie Santistevan, (Claude). She is survived by sisters, Eunice Romero, Fran Gomez (Ed), Ellen Gomez and sister-in-law, Elli Vigil. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death, her husband Pat, sons, Philip and Carl Maes, stepdaughters, Mary Padia and Elizabeth Freeman, sister Priscilla McGee, brothers, Efren (Elsie), Ben (Cordelia), and Aaron Vigil, and great grandson Luke Alps. A celebration of life will be held on October 27th at 10:00 A.M. at New Hope Ministries, 108 Kansas Ave, Walsenburg, CO. Following the service, a burial will be held at the Maes Family Cemetery concluding with a dinner at the Raymond Aguirre Community Center in Gardner, Colorado.

Juanita was the best hostess. We would visit from Fort Collins and she always made his welcome. Her knowledge and history of the Red wing area was wonderful. I will miss your singing voice and your welcoming sweet smile. Love and prayers to family. Dori Carroll
