Juanita Marie Smith born on February 11, 1974, was called to her heavenly rest on November 7, 2024 at 6:14 PM. She was the youngest child of the late Kenneth Smith Sr. and Joann Thompson Smith, and the beloved sister to Kenneth Smith Jr and Ronald Smith. Juanita, affectionately known as "Mama," graduated from South High School in 1992, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She went on to build a remarkable career at Marriott Sheraton and Walmart consistently earning Employee of the Month for her outstanding contributions.
A gifted artist, Jaunita had a passion for drawing, painting, and creating beautiful walls mirror. She also loved to paint rocks, turning them into unique works of art. Mama was especially known for her incredible talent with braiding hair, often styling the hair of every child around her in beautiful, original patterns.
Juanita was a member of the Avon Avenue Baptist Church, where she found Community, strength, and spiritual nourishment. Music was a significant part of Juanita's life- she found deep joy and spiritual connection through religious music, particularly the gospel hymns of Shirley Caesar. She also had a special love for the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, and could often be heard playing her music loudly, filling the room with the powerful rhythms and soul-stirring vocals that echoed her vibrant spirit. Whether it was the gospel or the classic tunes of Aretha, Juanita's music was never soft-it was always bold, loud, and full of life. Her love for the Lord was evident in everything she did Juanita's warmth, creativity, and devotion to her family and faith will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and inspiration that will continue to live in the heart of those who knew her.
