Juanita M. Zeek, 84, Ottawa, KS passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. She was born August 20, 1939 in Richter, KS the daughter of Jim Spooner and Lucy (Rockers) Spooner. She graduated from Pomona High School with the Class of 1958.
Juanita was the Treasurer for Franklin County, Kansas from 1993 until her retirement in 2001.
She married LeRoy M. Zeek on October 14, 1994 in Miami, OK. They shared over twenty-nine years of marriage.
Juanita attended Hope Anthem Church in Ottawa, KS: was a member of the Kansas County Treasurers Association and Republican Women of Franklin County, KS. She enjoyed flower gardening, wintering in Texas with Mel, sitting on the back porch visiting with family and friends, and going for long drives on the county backroads while stopping at the Green Acres Restaurant for a bite to eat.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Jim & Lucy Spooner.
Surviving family includes her husband, LeRoy M. Zeek of the home; her daughter, Debbie Badders of Ottawa, KS; granddaughter, Melissa Brown and husband, Sheldon of Ottawa, KS; great-granddaughter, LeKiah Bowens of Ottawa, KS; step-daughter, Jackie Wisecarver of Hutchinson, KS; and a step-son, Chad Zeek.
A private burial will be held at a later date at the Munsee Indian Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation and sent in c/o the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS 66067.
