Judith Baish Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Healy Chapel Funeral & Cremation Services - Aurora Facility on Dec. 6, 2024.
Judith Ann (Mateas) Baish left this world to join her son Brett on December 5, 2024. Her husband and daughter were at her side. She was born on June 10, 1950 to Leo and Winifred (Crooke) Mateas.
Judy was a graduate of Oswego High School and Waubonsee Community College. She graduated from Aurora University in 2004. She was employed as a librarian at St. Joseph Catholic School for many years. She loved to read, cook, and travel, and will be remembered for her kindness, quick wit, and her laughter that would fill a room.
She is survived by her husband Jim, her daughter Joy Sanders and her son-in-law Larry and her grandchildren Nolan and Drew all of whom she loved dearly. Her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Dianna Baish, and their children Melissa (Jose) Garcia, Adam (April) Baish, Matt Baish and their families and many dear cousins of the Mateas family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Brett in July of 2024, her parents Leo and Winfred Mateas, her brother Bob, her mother and father- in- law Julia and Ralph Baish, a special cousin Darlene (late Jim) Rausch.
Special thanks to her lifelong friend Jay Dee (John) Moreland and to her St. Joseph School friends of 30+ years who visited her, supported her and kept her and her family in their prayers during her time of need as well as so many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Thanks also to Sandy (late Jack) Johnson and Jeri (late Spike) Snyder with whom Judy and Jim shared much over the last 50 years.
Judy's family would like to thank the doctor, nurses CNA's and staff of Kindred Hospital in Sycamore who were so caring and devoted during her last days.
She will forever be loved, remembered and missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Judy's name to the Waubonsee Community College Foundation, where a scholarship will be established in her memory.
A memorial mass will be held January 4, 2025 at St. Peter's Church, 925 Sard Avenue, Aurora at 4:30 pm.

I am so sorry to hear about Judy. I had the pleasure of working with her at St. Joseph School. She was always pleasant and encouraged me to finish my degree, just as she did. Thoughts and prayers are with the Baish family. Rest in peace Judy.

Jim and family, I'm so sorry for the loss of your wife and your son. We didn't know Judith but you worked with my Mom (Ena) at First American probably 50 years ago. Mom always spoke so highly of you. I know she would want us to convey our condolences to your family. We're thinking of you.
