Brett Robert Baish, 42, of Aurora, passed away on July 1 after a 22 month hard fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his parents and sister.
Brett was born on May 17, 1982 in Aurora. He graduated from Aurora Central Catholic High School and was employed by DHL Supply Chain.
Brett was a lover of music, particularly heavy metal and classic rock. He was a movie buff, especially horror movies. He cheered for the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks. In his spare time, he liked playing his guitar and going to the driving range as often as he could. Brett will be remembered for his generosity and selflessness. His loyalty to his family and friends knew no bounds.
Brett is survived by his parents, Jim and Judy Baish, his sister and brother-in-law Joy and Larry Sanders, who devoted the last 22 months to being there and providing support in every way. His nephews, Nolan and Drew Sanders, who he loved dearly, his Godmother, Jerilyn Snyder, his aunt and uncle, Ralph and Dianna Baish, cousins Adam (April), and Matt (Elizabeth) Baish, Veronica (Mike) Kaczkowski, Maxx Garcia, as well as special cousins Melissa and Jose Garcia, who were there to support him as well as accompanying him to medical appointments in Chicago. He is also survived by a great aunt, Jerry Charleston, dear cousin Sandy (late Jack) Johnson, and many second cousins. He is also survived by his friends of a lifetime, Joe Healy, Brian (Brooke) Roche, Neil Kloster, and Eric Alexander, all of whom were with him throughout his battle.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Ralph and Julia (Donka) Baish, Leo and Winifred (Crooks) Mateas, his uncle, Robert Mateas, and his Godfather Eugene "Spike" Snyder.
Brett's family would like to thank the relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers for their help, prayers and support for Brett and his family, and to St. Croix Hospice.
A mass will be said in Brett's name on Saturday, August 3 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 925 Sard Ave., Aurora, IL 60506.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the following: Northwestern Medicine Cancer Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Croix Hospice, or the Montgomery Fire Department.
We loved him dearly.
