Judith L. “Judy” Blankenship, age 85, of Eaton, OH passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 30, 1940 in Boston, IN to the late Theodore “Duke” and Bessie (Jackson) Clark.
Judy graduated in 1958 from Gratis High School and was a longtime member of the First Brethren Church in Gratis. She has been a legal secretary for over 60 years, most recently working in Earley’s office in Eaton. She was one of the founders of the Ohio Horseman’s Council. She helped forge the trails at Hueston Woods Horseman Camp. The simple things in life were appreciated by Judy; she loved to birdwatch or spend time in nature. She was stoic but kind, stubborn but gentle, the perfect combination of work and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marvin L. Blankenship, Jr.; sister Georgianna Baker; and good friends Mary Catherine Johnson and Phyllis Jones.
She is survived by her son Richard Benge; daughter Michelle Benge; grandchildren Richard Clark (April) Benge, Morgan Chelby Hess, Andrew S. Hess, Skylar Lee Hess, Tannar Blu Hess, Tiffany Ann Hess and Kate Lynn Hess; numerous beloved great grandchildren; good friends “Pork Chop” Charlie Jones and Linda Aukerman; and beloved dog Dorree.
A celebration of life to be held at Fort St. Clair in Eaton will be announced at a later date. Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Eaton is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences and other remembrances may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
