I just heard of her passing, and I am shocked. I have known Judith for a long time. She was married to my husband´s best friend Fred.

My condolences to Fred and her brother.

When The Sharon Audubon Society held one of its annual festivals some years ago, my husband and I met Judith for the first time. It was a sunny gorgeous day, and she joined us in a program focused on poetry and nature. Although we live some distance away, Judith had the generosity of heart to invite us to participate in her annual poetry salon, introduce us to her friends, and spend time together each year. Although poetry was the thread that connected us, it was Judith´s graciousness and kindness that cemented our friendship over the years. A friendship that Paul and I cherish. It is with deep sadness that we learned of Judith´s passing.

Judith and I met in 1972 at London's Courtauld Institute where we were both studying Italian art. During those years we also spent some time together in Florence, a city we loved and knew well.
In the Spring of 1975, I flew to the States and spend a snowy month in Sharon with Judith and met many of her interesting friends. We talked Italy and art, cats and families, painted parts of her adorable house, and drove around rural Connecticut looking for - and photographing - big, boldly painted barns which had taken my fancy. We were young(ish) and had yet to make our mark as writers and photographers.
Judith was always supportive of her friends, a good listener, and an excellent confidant. She had so many interests, and was appreciated by many people in many different lands. Although we met a few times in the ensuing years when she visited my family in Britain, later my home in the south of France and even in South Africa where we shared tough ostrich steaks one evening, we didn't actually spend large chunks of time together, for which I'm sorry. But she was a great correspondent - and kept me apprised of goals and achievements in her own life, and the lives of her friends to whom she had introduced me. I'm missing her already.
