Judith Ann Fortune

Judith Ann (Bailey) Fortune, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on 04/08/2025 after a brief illness. Judy is survived by her husband of 59 years, George and their toy poodle Lucy. Judy was born at Jenny Stuart Memorial Hospital in Hopkinsville, KY to William Douglas Bailey and Mary Lucille (McDermont) Bailey. She has a sister, Cynthia Brewster, and a brother, Douglas Wayne. Judy attended Christian County High School, and earned a B.A. from Austin Peay State University. She taught 7th and 8th grade English and remedial reading for five and a half years in Hopkinsville, KY. She then worked in the mental health field for 39 years, including 25 years as a Mental Health Therapist at Seven Counties Services. During this time Judy completed a Master of Education degree from the University of Louisville. Judy loved reading, listening to music, and dining out. She lived in Jeffersontown, KY for 49 years with George and eight toy poodles and one Morkie over the years. Judy loved cookouts and potlucks with her many friends. In lieu of flowers, gifts should go to the KY Humane Society and Hosparus Health. A memorial service will be held at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Rd. on Sunday, April 27th 2:00 – 3:00 pm.
