Middleville – Judith Ann Hladysz, ninety-one of Herkimer Street died suddenly at her home on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
She was born on December 12, 1932, in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Seymaur and Mary Edmunds) Legg. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School with the class of 1950. She continued her education at the Central City Business Institute of Syracuse, graduating in 1952. Her first full-time position was working as a legal secretary for the Honorable Daniel J. Blaugrund from 1952 until 1962. On July 8, 1962, she was united in marriage to Stephen J. Hladysz in the Herkimer Reformed church. They shared a devoted union of 34 years until his passing on July 25, 1996. In 1976 she went worked for the Herkimer County Soil and Water Conservation. She then went back to work as a full-time legal secretary for Basloe and Basloe until 1987. She retired in the mid-nineties after working for Charles Crandall, Jr., Esq. as his legal secretary.
Judy was a life member of Evening Star Valley Chapter #82, Order of the Easter Star. She also enjoyed cross stitch and needle point. She will be remembered for her gentle kindnessand friendly nature. She was a faithful friend who you could count on to brighten up a sad day. She will be sadly missed by those she loved.
Surviving are a son and his wife Stephen and Pin Pin of Utica. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim, and Walter Legg.
A private funeral services and spring interment are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc, Herkimer and at the confidence of the family.
