Obituary of Judith Burns Schuster
Judith Burns Schuster passed away on July 19th after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Judy was born on May 3, 1940, in Duluth, MN, and graduated from Duluth East High School ('58). She attended the University of Michigan receiving a B.A. in Journalism ('62) and always cheered enthusiastically for Michigan sports teams.
Judy was an avid reader, particularly of spy and mystery novels, and wrote the Crime Corner book reviews for the Star Tribune. She also volunteered, including being a Board Member of the Charity Review Council of MN where she received Volunteer of the Year. After graduating from Michigan, Judy went to work as a reporter at the Freeport Illinois Journal newspaper. There she met her late husband, William F. Schuster, who was working as a copy editor. They had a joyful and fulfilling marriage for 55 years before his death in 2019.
After taking time off to raise her two children, William Schuster and Cindy Schuster, Judy returned to work in public relations at Jostens, eventually ending her career in public relations at 3M.
In addition to her children, she is survived by two grandchildren, Tyler (MacKenzie) Schuster and Jordan Schuster. Judy is also survived by two brothers, William (Renee) Burns of Duluth, MN, and Richard (Elizabeth) Burns of Carefree, AZ, and a sister-in-law, Jan Schuster of Mystic, CT.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Burns, and her brother-in-law, John Schuster.
Friends are invited to gather at Brunswick Methodist Church, 6122 N 42nd Ave, Crystal, MN 55422, on Saturday, July 27, at 1 p.m. Services will be conducted by her cousins, Reverends David Wheeler and Nancy Wheeler Handlon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Hospice, 2076 St Anthony Ave, St Paul, MN 55104, or a charity of your choice.
