In Loving Memory of Judy Ann Benes April 28,1951– July 25,2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Judy Ann Benes, who left us on July 25,2025 at the age of 74. Judy was born on April 28, 1951 in Woodlawn, Tx to Jessie and Milred Copeland. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved being called "Meme," a name that brought a smile to her face. Her children meant the world to her, and she cherished each of them deeply. Judy's fiery spirit and zest for life were fueled by the boundless love she had for her family. She had a special passion for fishing-whether the fish were biting or not, she was happiest with a pole in the water. She also had a soft spot for Dr. Peppers and a deep love for bluebonnets, both of which brought her simple, lasting joy.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Mildred Copeland, as well as her eight siblings. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 56 years, John Henry Benes; her children, Dedra and husband Alfred Leal, Jesse Lee Benes and wife Ginger, Corey Benes and wife Mandy, and her fur baby Reba. Her grandchildren include Kl'Cee and husband Randy Niehues, Kayla and husband Dustin Sessom, Jomikel and wife Chelsea Leal, Jesse Lee Benes Jr. and wife Ceceley, Paula-Marie Benes, Kaci Clark and husband Justin, Austin and Julie Clark, Gage Benes, and John Ryan Benes. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren ShaeLee Leal, JoAidyn Leal, Daxton Sessom, Brentlei Niehues, Jolee Leal, Declan Sessom, Liam Niehues, Guinevere Benes, EmberLee Niehues, and baby girl Jesse Lee III, expected soon. Judy is also survived by her in-laws: Howard Fred and wife Melody Benes, Merry Carol and husband Kenny Stuard, and Lonnie Jay and wife Becky Benes, along with numerous nieces and nephews and several lifelong friends. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice Care and a special thanks to her nurses Myra, Kim, and Danilla.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 P.M-7:00 P.M, on Wednesday July 30,2025 at Shaffer Funeral Home. A celebration of Judy's life will be held on July 31,2025 at 10 A.M. at Ivy Cemetery in Christoval, Texas. All are welcome to attend and honor a remarkable woman.
