Sharon Elizabeth Campbell of San Angelo, Tex., died on August 4, 2025, at the age of 82. She was a longtime resident of the Daybreak community in San Angelo.
She was born on Jan. 13, 1943, in Robstown, Tex., to Mervyn "Mutt" Campbell and Pauline (Winters) Campbell.
Unlike many special needs children of her generation, her parents provided her frequent opportunities to be with her family, especially at holidays and reunions spent at their home at Camp Bell on Lake Corpus. Sharon knew all of her siblings, nieces and nephews well, and they loved her and cherished her pure and joy-filled spirit.
She brought home medals from participating in Special Olympics over the years, but her most treasured collection was dedicated to her favorite artist, Elvis Presley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lanier Campbell and Larry Campbell; and two sisters, Barbara Nell Campbell and Cynthia Stewart.
Those left to cherish her memory are two nephews, Michael Campbell and Jay Campbell; and five nieces, Sherilyn Brown, Lorna Ayers, Bonnee Johnson, Michelle White, and Leann Maldonado.
The family is especially thankful to Maxine and Patty of Daybreak for the years of loving care they provided Sharon.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 29 at Memorial Gardens in Robstown, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of San Angelo.
