Judy Elaine Morelock, age 75, of Seymour, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at the University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City.
Judy was born on October 5, 1949 in Centerville, Iowa. She was the youngest of two daughters born to Everett and Doris (Varney) Curtis.
Judy loved her Lord and Savior and she strongly believed in the power of prayer. Judy was actively involved in mission's ministry when her sister, Jan had her ministry, Hand's of Love. The two sisters and their husbands would prepare clothing, building supplies, toys, ect. And take them to the needy in the Sinnet, Kentucky area and to the Galilean Children's Home in Liberty, Kentucky. They truly had a heart for the hurting in that area. The sisters continued this outreach until failing health prohibited them.
In these latter years of failing health, Judy found solace in the peace of her home. She loved watching her VHS tapes of ministers, westerns, documentaries and especial animal adventures. Judy loved animals and farm life and enjoyed visiting with her niece, Shelly, and her Bath Aides, Ashley and Megan about their critters.
Judy will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Tommy Williams and David Morelock; her brother-in-law, Vurdie Bunnell; and step children, Jerry Morelock and Mark Morelock.
Judy is survived by her sister, Janice Bunnell of Seymour, IA; her niece and caregiver, Shelly (Kevin) Knott of rural Seymour, IA; her son, Steven (Jonell) Kraus of Independence, MO; nieces, Lisa (Melvin) Green of Centerville, IA, Brenda Novotny of rural Plano, IA, Debbie (Denny) Abraham of Machesney Park, IL, and Sheila (Dale) Bowen of El Dorado, KS; aunts, Joretta (Curtis) VanAntwerp of Agency, IA, Donna (Varney) Sampson of Lee Summit, MO, and Rosella (Varney) Ceniceros of Seymour, IA; uncles, Rex (Barb) Varney of Centerville, IA and Richard Varney of Newton, Iowa. Judy also leaves behind a host of great nieces, nephews, step-children, Terry (Jodi) Morelock and Jeffrey (Marlene) Morelock and step-grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
Per Judy's wishes, only a graveside service will be held in her honor at 3:00PM, Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Shoultz Cemetery, near Seymour. Memorials have been established to Galilean Children's Home, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Morelock Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
