Russell Scott Carter

Russell Scott Carter, 64, of Unionville, MO, passed away on October 6, 2025, at home.
Scott was born March 16, 1961, in Fairfield, IA, the son of William Clark Carter and Arabell (Johnson) Carter.
Scott graduated from Putnam County R-1 in 1979. Shortly after graduation, Scott married Debbie Dixon. Together they had one son, Derek Scott.
For several years, Scott and his older brother Craig toured around the Midwest with their band Tasty Nickel and put out three albums that you could purchase at the local Ben Franklin. A point of pride for the family.
In 1987, Scott married the love of his life, Diane (Anderson) Carter. Together they had a son, Russell Dylan.
After the dissolvement of Tasty Nickel, Scott continued to tour with other bands for several years.
Later in life, Scott worked at TICO until it closed and then worked at AMCOR until his retirement in 2023.
Scott found enjoyment in hearing from son Derek and getting updates on his grandsons, watching every Marvel and DC movie with son Dylan, and motorcycle rides to maid rite restaurants. He continued to add to his prized Hot Wheels collection throughout his life. Scott was the family go-to resource for genealogy questions and family history.
Scott leaves behind his wife Diane, son, Derek (Stacy) Carter, grandsons Aiden, Evan, and Ryan Carter all of Centerville, IA, son, Russell Dylan of Unionville, MO, mother Arabelle of Kirksville, MO, sisters Diana Lowry of St. Cloud, MN, Cindy (Jack) Reasbeck of Lee's Summit, MO, and Jennifer (Eric) Roman of Fayetteville, AR, father-in-law Phil Anderson of Zearing, IA, brother-in-law Mark Anderson of North Liberty, IA and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
Scott is preceded in death by an infant daughter, his father, Clark Carter, older brother, Craig Carter and mother-in-law Shirley Anderson. Scott is laid to rest in Spriggs Cemetery, Lucerne, MO.
