Julia is survived by her siblings, Luke Black Elk, Jr., Ivis Black Elk, Iris Black Elk, Lucille Stewart, Marjorie Black Elk, Nathan Black Elk, and Mike Black Elk; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Julia was preceded in death by her biological father, Howard DeWitt; her mother Bessie Chips; father, Luke Black Elk, Sr.; siblings, Malcolm Black Elk, Alvina Black Elk, Francine Tobacco, Betty Black Elk, Dawson Black Elk, and Gilbert Black Elk.
Pallbearers will be Kristian Black Elk, Jake Two Bulls, Jonathan Black Elk, Travis Pulliam, Jonathan Shane Black Elk, and Farrell Red Cloud.
Honorary pallbearers will be all family, relatives, & friends.
Visitation Services: Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD
Funeral Services: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD
Officiating: To Be Announced
Traditional Lakota Services: Darla Black, Ron Jumping Eagle, Jr. and the Oyuhpe Drum Group
Burial Services: Black Elk Family Cemetery, Oglala, SD
Arrangements entrusted with the Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD.
