Mrs. Julia Oleta Wilson, 88 of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Wilson was born on March 9, 1935 in Tattnall County and had lived in Pooler for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Daisy Bell Barrow, her husband of 53 years Joseph D. Wilson, and a sister Georgia Rimes Stanioch. She was a member of Rothwell Baptist Church and attended Woodlawn Baptist Church. She had worked at Hogan's at the Westside Shopping Center, at a sewing factory, and was the co-owner/operator of The Cake Corner in Pooler. She enjoyed sewing, even making two of her daughter's wedding dresses. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Dianne Gay (Danny), JoAnn Bryan (Don), and Kathy Allen (Bruce); grandchildren Dionne Fort, Bo Allen, Rachel Bryan, Tiffany Hursey (Marcus), and Becky Partin (Scott); great-grandchildren Victoria Stoner, Lila Loven (Dillon), Nicholas Munsey, Noah Fort, Wilson Hursey, Emma Partin, Wyatt Hursey, Ella Hursey, and Kennedy Allen; great-great-grandchildren Preston Hodge, Tanner Hodge, and Olivia Loven; siblings Leona Kicklighter, Edward Barrow (Nina), Emmaline Gaglia (Joe), Martha Rimes, and Jane Smith, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mrs. Wilson's life will be on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery. Rev. Matt Travis and Rev. Tammy Fincher will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Hospice Savannah (hospicesavannah.org or P. O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 407 Talmadge Avenue, Garden City, GA 31408
