Julie Ann Adkins (born November 17, 1959) of Powell, TN passed away peacefully on March 16, 2023 embraced by family and friends, after bravely fighting cancer for two years. Her greatest joy in life was wearing the badges of mother, daughter, sister, Nana, friend, and "Nurse Julie."
She was preceded in death by parents Spencer and Ann, and brother, Mike. She was a loving mother to Erin (Chris) Clapp and Spencer (Katie) Clancy and "Nana" to her grandchildren, Avery and Cade. She also loved her niece Ashley (Jason) Woods and their children, Hayden and Hudson, as if they were her own. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Susan, brother, Steve (Bella), and nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was a multi-sport athlete at Knoxville Catholic High School where she was nominated by her peers as "Miss KCHS" and crowned homecoming queen. After graduating from St. Mary's College of Nursing, Julie devoted over 40 years of her life serving others as a nurse at St. Mary's hospital, Fort Sanders, and Team Health. Her door was always open to those in need, and her time away from work was consistently dedicated to helping those she loved. She exemplified humility, unconditional love, an open heart, and a great sense of humor. In moments of chaos, Julie was often the calming voice there to offer comfort and guidance. Her willingness to sacrifice for others will be part of her lasting legacy.
The family would like to acknowledge her amazing group of friends – Liz Horton, Jane Gerard, and Debbie Via – for their faithful and heartfelt friendship. We would also like to express our gratitude to her caregiver Shawnda and the staff at Sacred Ground Hospice Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Ladies of Charity,

Family will receive friends at Stevens Mortuary from 5-7pm on Tuesday, March 21st with a Christian Prayer Service to follow.
